The abundant rain and forecasted storms will delay Opening Day until Friday, Sept 15. It’s been exciting to explore the maturing fields, begin to pick pumpkins and discover how the crop fared. Each year we try some new seed varieties as well as the old favorites, and each year the yield varies due to weather, germination, soil conditions, etc. We have LOTS of big pumpkins this year and a wider array of colors (white, blue, stripped, red, pink, etc.) than before. One new pumpkin variety features “naked seeds,” meaning seeds without a hull or shell… I can’t wait to toast and eat them!
