Family Fun

Plan a family adventure to the pumpkin patch, an hour or so investment in building family bonds and memories.  Select from a large display of prepicked pumpkins (50 varieties) or grab a wagon and venture to the patch to find your own perfect pumpkin. Continue the fun by playing a round of Pumpkin Putt-Putt, Ring-A-Pumpkin or Skee-Pumpkin. Then possibly swing, climb or slide and play in the small yellow house.

PYO Open Columbus Day

The Pick-Your-Own (PYO) option is open today for Columbus Day.  Enjoy picking pumpkins, playing pumpkin games, and spending time with your family.

Open 9:00am – 6:30pm.

Try a Squash

Try a tasty squash for dinner. Simple to make, very versatile, and season as you wish for a savory or sweet delight.

General prep: Cut squash in half and scoop out the seed cavity. Brush with oil & Roast in oven for 45-60min (depending on size and quantity) OR microwave 1-2 halves for 6-8min, cut side down, in a little water until soft.  Variations are endless from there. But a few favorites include:

1. Rake out a cooked Spaghetti Squash flesh with a fork, onto a plate, and top with your favorite sauce and seasonings (like ground pepper, garlic salt and marinara.)

2. Wedge/slice a mostly-cooked Sun Spot Kabocha squash instead of a potato for oven fries. Brush with olive oil and season as you wish (like salt/pepper, or season salt , or garlic salt). Roast until tender/crispy, about 10min.

3. Roast or microwave a cooked Festival Squash, stuffed with browned ground beef and/or sausage & onions, topped with cheddar cheese, about 15min or until hot throughout.

4. Top a cooked Delicata squash with slices of butter, a fist full of brown sugar, and a sprinkle of  cinnamon.  Bake or microwave until hot throughout. Yum!!

Mum Sale, Oct 1 & 2

We are celebrating the start of October with a 2-day MUM sale.  Regular-size mums are $4 each, or 4 for $15. Tri-color hanging baskets are $10 and large tri-color planters are $18. This sale is 2 days only, while supplies last (no rainchecks.)

It’s a Pumpkin Kind of Weekend

What a beautiful day and weekend for pumpkins, squash, corn shocks, mums, and all things Fall!  We have all sorts of sizes and colors of pumpkins and gourds.  Orange pumpkins range from 1/2 pound to over 150+ pounds.

Monday – Saturday 9:00am – 6:30pm

Sunday 12:00 – 5:00pm.

Bountiful Sunny Morning

What a blessing to see the sun this morning, and to pick pumpkins without rain.  Today I ventured into a new section of the patch, an area not previously explored.  I found some squash (Delicata, Sun Spot, Kobacha, Butternut, etc.) and other colorful bounty.

Pumpkin Stand Open Daily

Pumpkins! Mums, gourds, squash and other Fall decorations too!

The Pumpkin Stand is open daily.  Monday – Saturday, 9:00am – 6:30pm; and Sunday, noon – 5:00pm.  The Pick-Your-Own patch will be only on weekends (Fri- Sun).

Pumpkin Stand Opening Day Delayed

Although we projected today (9/13) as the possible Opening Day for the Pumpkin Stand, the abundant rain has not allowed for this.  The Stand area has been a soggy mess and the pumpkin field extremely muddy… not good conditions for Opening Day.  At this point, the hope is to Open on Saturday afternoon (9/15), IF we don’t get much rain the next couple days.

One month until Pumpkins

Currently, there are lots of beautiful, yellow pumpkin flowers blooming, and little pumpkins growing larger. The abundant rain over the last few weeks has been good for our Fall crops, especially after a very dry few weeks.  Fortunately, we have not had the destroying floods and hail that some areas have had.

The pumpkin stand will open in mid-September, possibly as early as Sept 13… depending on the weather.
